The Importance of Individualism

Eric Liu: I think the pinnacle of the human animal is like this individualist being able to take advantage of everything you want. He thinks that modern human beings and civilization makes us have all these passions and weaknesses. But it's like when you're solitary and you just like you can hunt and find what you want, you can eat the fruits and you can fuck someone when they come along. And then we get all of civilization with its, with its conveniences, with its like division of labor, especially where you don't have to do everything for yourself. And then you're less happy.
