Emotions Are the Glue of Relationships
In some ways, emotions are basically the channel through which we interact with the world. I call them often the glue of relationships. But what I've come to think is that their functions have not so much evolved, however many million years ago, but that they evolve in the specific cultural context in which you grow up. Love for example wasn't the same thing a hundred years ago or 200 years ago; it doesn't have the same place in multiple cultures. It's very dangerous to think that love as we know it exists exactly in the same way in other cultures.
