The Purpose of Art
The point of art is to take familiar experiences and make us see them in a different way. Schopenhauer says that everything we experience is always unique, right? Even if it feels very similar, you're going to the same dead end nine to five job every single day,. In fact, every day is unique. And yet there's this other thing we do, which is language. Ironically, it kind of relates to this defamiliarization thing. It familiarizes things, right? Yes.
