The Voice of a Memoir
The voice of Lolita is missing, and that's the problem with the book. To me, it's not successful in showing us how a sociopath annihilates a childhood. I think it could be more powerful if we had the voice of the girl,. And that was, for me, at the heart of it, that was what was missing. Michael Bond: The idea of giving voice to the silent girl felt like there was a way in which I had just finished reading Lolita.
