The MIM 104 Patriot

The MIM 104 patriot was an anti-missile missile that was used to shoot down missiles. Israel at the request of the United States did not go to war against Iraq because the US had gotten all the other Arab countries to go along with this war. The highly effective mobile air defense missile has been the chief protector against the SCUD missile attacks in the Middle East. Once launched, the patriot is guided by a control station using data from both ground-based radar and a receiver in the nose of the missile. As it nears the enemy missile or aircraft, the Patriots fragmentation warhead detonates, destroying the intruder.
