The Importance of John Major in the Conservative Party
John Major was seen as not necessarily a disaster in himself, but certainly someone who presided over a disaster. Now somehow he's kind of morphed into this sort of elder statesman role and talked about as if like he's in the great former prime minister we should all listen to. I think it's partly, you know, if you want a good example of the way that the right sort of canonizes its history while the left prefers iconoclasm.
