Richard Farley and Laura Black
Richard Farley was a software technician at the Electromagnetic Systems Laboratory in Sunnyvale, California. In 1984 he met 22-year-old Laura Black and soon became smitten with her beauty. He began to make advances but when she rebuffed him, he launched a campaign of harassment against her. After almost a full year of sporadic harassment Richard averaged at least two incidents of stalking a week. The company took swift action by terminating his employment if he didn't seek counseling or face termination.
