The Timing of Smith's Life
i found the timing of smith's life very interesting. He was able to speak of a commercial society before it really took off into what many would look at as sort of that industrial age of the nineteenth century, and we just exited the twentieth century. And he had just the seedlings in his eyes of what was starting at that time. What he didn't see was large-scale factory production by the mid 19th century. But he did have his reflections on how trade would inevitably transform all human lives. i think we're grateful to have him as a chronicler of that moment,. and one who so well anticipated both the promise and the perils of what we face today.
