I think there's a real sense that what they're looking for is the strongest possible contrarian or opposition to the rest of it. They end up choosing the most kind of reactionary person, but it's not necessarily clear they choose him because they agree with his ideology as much as because they think he'll make good television. I felt watching extrapolations that one of the challenges had to be that you have to write characters who have sincere politics. And the danger is just not wanting it to be too preachy,. To have these prophetic characters who are truth seeking and honest about what was wrong with the world.
