The Death of Dimebag Darrow

Pantera never officially broke up, but after reinventing the steel they just kinda collapsed. Phil Enselmo had suffered a heroin overdose, backstage at a show in Dallas in 1996. The Abbott brothers started a new band of their own called Damage Plan in 2003. Midway through their first song, Dimebag Darrow was shot and killed by a former Marine who had diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
