The Evolution of Comics?

I see comic books as a whole getting better and doing better with representation. And i think the stories have gone there. I've had people tell me before, well, why do you need to do that? Because, i mean, the x men are really all about being different in this world. Can't you just take that metaphor and leave it alonead? You can still tell powerful, non didactic stories about people putting in all that diversity so that when readers read these stories, they can see themselves in it.
