Before she became famous for refusing to give up her seat on the bus in Montgomery Alabama, Rosa Parks was already committed. She said a week before this incident, she had seen the photograph of Emmett Till in his casket. And it was that emblaze photograph in her mind and praying to God while she was shaking her seat that she did not get up. In the south, if you were the last woman on the bus, you would be driven to the end of the bus line and be raped by the driver.
