There is very clear evidence that we have a generation of new giants, particularly in the technology sector. They generate enormous profits in markets where they are essentially monopolists or happy monopolists. And then we gave up on competition policy for many reasons and allowed these giants to gobble up pretty well all their potential competitors. So this led to an extraordinary concentrations of wealth and economic power. If you want to be a successful business, the way Google search works determines how well your business does. These are gatekeepers to the market economy.
