Abraham: I was really determined to do my best to plot out this novel and that's hard to do. There's a maxim or a dictum in writing that character is determined by decisions taken under pressure. John Irving who was a friend and mentor, John says you have to know the whole story and he does. He knows the last line and the first line of the book. Abraham: Eventually writers like me we get to that point where at a certain point after all these iterations of the whiteboard I knew the whole story. Once I knew that then I could really go back and make sure things connected and make sure what needed to be hidden was hidden"
