Is There a Difference Between Hosting in the Bay Area and New York City?

In New York, I found that people hosted very frequently and it was like very balanced. And then in the Bay Area, it's just a little different. Like it feels like maybe the skill of hosting or just the understanding of hosting is different. It's not as mature as what I saw in New York. So I think my urge to like host and like do these dinner parties may come from like not having my family here.
