Is Consciousness an Illusion?
An illusionist view of consciousness presupposes that it's an illusion for some kind of conscious observer or conscious riencer, he says. So there isn't really this private mental world any more than there's the pink elephant out there, but there is a kind of version of it being displayed in another mental world. And so you're gong to need a mental world after all which to present the illusion of the first one. We can say that there's a story about this inner world and we can tell our own interpretation of what makes us feel 'conscious' But i'm not sure if anyone has ever been able to make such a convincing argument from their point of view.
