The German Foreign Minister's First China Strategy
China is Germany's largest trade partner and has been for seven years based on data presented by Reuters news service. The German government now says that China is a competitor and a systemic rival, no longer just an economic partner. This tension between the government and German industry is probably why the German foreign minister said last week, quote, we do not want to decouple from China, but reduce the risks as much as we can.
