Staten Island Republican City Councilman Joe Barrelli: "It's a Housing Problem"

State Sen. Hochl wants 800,000 new affordable housing units built in New York state. If a locality fails to meet her goal, the state could overrule local zoning policies by fiat and force the changes through. This really has a lot of people up in arms as these suburbs jealously guard their ability to self govern when it comes to housing and zoning. Do they even agree that this is actually a problem that needs a government response? I asked Staten Island Republican City Councilman Joe Barrelli about that very thing.
