The Transcendental Ego - What Is It?
To be free, you have to wake up. But if you're worried about yourself, which is automatically enslaving. It's like being enslaved to the self. So that's the paradox of waking up. This whole section refers to the conversation we had last time about this tion of the non intentional self and the ego. To become an existent, to become self, is to become self conscious - ironically means that you buy your freedom at the cost of being chained to yourself. A free being is already no longer free, because it is responsible for itself. You cannot achieve self consciousness. You cannot depart from yourself, never to return again.
