The anti-cathair mechanism is like often called the world's first computer. It was theoretically something that helped navigation because in order to track where you are at sea, you need to know the time and where you are. If you know the time, you know how far you've traveled from your origin. Oh, you get into like the quantum physics of like knowing space, time and everything else, how they speak.
