The Story of Spot and the Lighthouse

Spot the Springer-Spaniel was a hero at Artinica Island lighthouse. He learned to ring the fog bell by pulling on its rope whenever a boat went by. The mailman, whose name was Stuart Ames, was known to bring Spot treats. As you can imagine, the dog always rallied at the unique sound of his engine. But one night there was a fierce storm and the fog bell got buried in snow banks. Meanwhile the mailman needed that bell more than ever if he was to avoid the rocks at the foot of the cliff. That's how Spot became a hero. There's a plaque placed there in his memory. What a very good boy he was.
