The Most Dangerous Rule of Being a Man
A lot of the masculine culture I grew up in had this sort of unspoken rule that says if you're struggling, or if you feel any kind of insecurity or weakness, don't talk about that. And it really hit home when a close friend of mine who he'd gone to university with told him everything that had been going on behind the scenes. It gave me permission to have much more meaningful relationships with the men in my life. You know, I felt like I wasn't constantly lying or hiding something or withholding from them - and so those are the types of relationships that I wish everyone could have.
