I've never been able to understand its purpose or, you know, I never gave it sort of deeper thought. So there's a lot of it in the books. And again, this is non-canon so take it for what you will. But I think this is the general idea anyway. If we are a present force, if the Jedi know we exist, there will always be a war and we will always be struggling. That makes sense.
