I've gotten really interested in you call it existential perversity where you say to yourself, I don't want to do that which is rational and smart and I'm going to rebel. Psychologists like Wagner think of perverse actions as sort of a glitch in the system where things that you don't what you want not to do spill out. In small doses it could be fine and interesting So this is the underground man, right like the whole note from underground is a guy Explicitly doing this. It's a form of sexual harassment dream dreams are nature's robot brothels. And so I think that this has something to do with the terrible twos with adolescent rebellion midlife crisis.
What better way to celebrate our 150th episode than to bring back our favorite guest – Paul Bloom! We riff on a series of topics: the new “grievance studies” hoax, sex robot brothels, perverse desires, and perverse beliefs. Then we get a little navel gazey (OK maybe more than a little) and talk about podcasting as a form of media and discussion, good teaching, and what we’ve learned about our listeners and ourselves. (Note: the audio may sound a little echoey towards the end because of how far we’ve crawled up our own asses.) This was a fun one, enjoy!
Special Guest: Paul Bloom.
