Introduction
The future can really go in only one of two ways. We could achieve some sort of technological singularity, a development so radical that the world is unrecognizable. Or alternatively, modern civilization could take a sharp downward turn into collapse and catastrophe. There is no middle ground. The world of 21 22, or 21 hundred, or even 20 60, is going to be very, very different from the world of 20 22. Will it be unrecognizable in a good way, or in a bad way?
