Waiting for the Father's Promise
In verse 4, when Jesus was with them, he commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the Father's promise. Church Father, Chrysostom writing just a couple hundred years after this happened, wrote. It was necessary for them to have a longing for the event and so receive the grace. Our desire toward God is most awakened when we stand in need.
