The Importance of Taking a Stand on Political Issues
I like to talk about in terms of messaging and positioning with maintainers is that you have to take a stand on stuff. And when I say that, I don't mean political issues, but I mean stuff that's relevant to the project. However, I can see how you could potentially express an opinion relevant to your project - such as XYZ technology is good or bad. But I could see how that would make a big companies like comms people really uncomfortable. What you're saying there I think makes sense in terms of advising people to taking a stand on certain things but not political or social things.
