The Banking Crisis in the US
Charles Schwab, State Street and M&T suffered nearly $60 billion in combined bank deposit outflows in the first quarter. Some of these regional and smaller lenders are certainly feeling the pressure about going to have to offer better savings rates. And I think this is leading to kind of like a war in a deposit sector. So who can offer the best rate to attract business? Now, that's not necessarily good for their earnings because it could squeeze a profit margins. But we've also got the potential threat that financial institutions might be forced to hold more capital.
