Ames is a kind of a place where he's imagining the opposition having the same sorts of abilities that ito, that ordinarily you project on totalitarian opposition. He imagines sany sabis as having this kind of liberated zone from which, um, you could reach your tentacles and liberate other territories in the same way that he imagines pirate communes doing. This kind of gets to what phil was talking about earlier, where he’s ames is a kind of bureaucratic gnosticism. But i don't think that's an undercurrent. I think that's the explicit theme of the whole thing.
