The Risk of a Systemic Deposit Run Problem
There's a lot of commentary about this 2018 law that was passed that streamlines some of the regulations as they applied to mintier and smaller banks. I think there's some things that could have been done better in that bill. But I worry that this thing gets politicized. We start creating a narrative. Oh, we had this terrible deregulation of regional banks in 2018 and oh my gosh, they're all in trouble. That's just simply not the case.
