The Atlantic Telegraph Failure

The first transatlantic telegraph line was unfortunately completely dead within just a few weeks. It finally went silent on September 18th of 1858. But even with that failure, some really impressive work had been done in the time that the cable was functional. Over the course of those 23 days, 271 messages had been sent from Newfoundland and 129 messages were sent from Ireland.
