Monarch butterflies are a weedy animal species. Their native range is Eastern North America. There's another native population on the West Coast in California. They have self-sustaining introduced populations in Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, and Spain. Where milkweed has been introduced as a ornamental, monarchs blow across the oceans and colonize.
