The NDAA Security Assistance Architecture for Taiwan
The NDAA sets up a whole new kind of legal architecture for providing different types of security assistance to Taiwan, focus on making it harder to invade. It doesn't go any further in terms of providing any US security guarantees. A couple interesting provisions worth noting is that there's been a long-standing provision in the NDAA that restricts the use of funding for recognizing any sort of Russian claims over Crimea. And then request first report information with Executive Branch, focused on ways to support Ukrainian efforts to secure consequences and other violations of international law by Russian forces.
