The History of Pemican
Pemican is a mixture of like animal fat dried and pounded animal flesh and sometimes seeds nuts or berries that get combined into sort of a combination of different cultures. It's incredibly calorie dense and so it can be, you know, if people were going on a hunt for several weeks they could pack it into pouches and then just take a chunk of it at a time to fill many of the caloric needs for for a full day at the time. So I use it to tell indigenous food ways in North America pre colonization.
