The Importance of Story Structure

People spend a lot of time and money learning about and stressing over story structure when they write. The only rule I really know, the only absolutely ironclad rule you must follow is simply do not be boring. When I start up the audience during a TV show taping, what I tell myself I'm doing is paying attention to the last. But what I'm really doing is trying to reassure myself that everyone up there is listening and engaged.
