The russia crisis was just so obviously made to fit into the context of this book. So i firmly believe that it was a huge strategic mistake of the americans not to get the trans pacific partnership done. I think the problem was we were never serious about what we were doing for the russians, other than shock therapy. Bamba talked about it. He didn't argue it strategically. But the transpacific partnership should have been an institution that the chinese, if they were willing to actually bring their institutions and economy into suitably high standards,. They should have been welcomed into that institution as well.
