Before the cold war, the united states really didn't need overseas oil. The us. Provided oil to britain and france at provided a high octame fuel, aviation fuel, to the soviets during world war tooo. This is where american involvement in the middle east originated. Would it be fair to say that a state's perception of its vulnerability to oil coercion depends in part on how expansive its strategy? this came to me when i was reading your bit about the cold war with the with the united statess expanded global roll.
