The Importance of Baselines in Legislation
What I can expect moving forward in terms of baseline varies depending on what our regulatory and tax environment looks like. The fact is over the past 20 years in this country, maybe more, we've been moving ever more toward a world in which the government takes a much heavier hand in telling people how they're going to live their lives. As you do that, you take decision making out of the hands of the people. You make it harder for people to come up with new ideas for finding new and better ways to make things. It may be well towards one side or the other. And it probably changes over time.
