Python was not designed to do what we're doing, but because they really cared and they were very thoughtful about how they designed the language. If you look at other languages, for example, C and C++, right, if you're building a superset, you get stuck with the design decisions of the subset. It's actually much easier for me to go implement long tail compatibility weird features, even if they're distasteful or just do the hard work as an engineer.
