The Politics of Self-Censorship

The policing of opinion is itself insipid as a process and can promote conformity and passivity. The old rules don't quite fit the new reality that we live in so we probably shouldn't waste too much time imagining or pining for a return to how things once were. But at the same time we do risk absorbing new tyrannical norms without even realizing that we're doing so, accepting new forms of insufficiently critiqued doctrine again ideas such as intersectionality or white privilege clearly offer something important.
