The Second Russian Revolution of 1917
The second Russian Revolution of 1917 had been brewing for months. Modulates hoped for a Western liberal democracy, but Bolshevik revolutionaries like Trotsky and Lenin had other plans. The daughter of the then British Ambassador in Petrograd watched Lenin address the crowds. Every evening we passed the House of Shishin Skye, which had been taken over by Lenin and his followers as soon as they arrived in Petrograd. And every evening standing on the balcony of the summer house, we saw the squat figure, the white face and flaming eyes of the Bolshevik leader holding the people in the streets spell bound by his eloquence.
