Socialism Is a Bad Word, Right?
The closer you move to individualized ownership, the more symmetry of rights and responsibilities we have in the world. We mediate conflicts over resources via private property. But to the extent that we move opposite on that spectrum towards socialized public property, there's no symmetry. And what ends up happening is you get Soviet Russia. You get the state owning everything and extremely bad outcomes for human flourishing.
