Christopher Guest plays quirky St. Clair, who left New York and came to Blaine, Missouri. The town is about to celebrate at Sesquicentennial. They have commissioned him to write a musical called Red, White and Blaine. It's very important as they explain later, if the musical doesn't come off, then the celebration won't come off. And we're left to assume that there will be no more America.
