The Importance of Mindfulness in Meditation
In the residential retreats that we have here and that I've taught for many, many years we have interviews where we talk about individually with people who are practicing on retreat. And a lot of the interviews that I remember and undertake or what I might call reassurance interviews, the basic message is that you can do it. There you're sitting by yourself without any distractions and your body hurts because it carries tension or pain that collects when we're not so mindful. You also need to bring respect like to the Paliwax to make your peace with the way life is to live in the reality of the present.
