John Piper - Is Faith a Work or a Faith?
John piper wrote in the seventies that faith does not merit any as a work, because it is not a work. Paul spells out the essence of faith and the antithesis to merit when he says: "The one who works, his wage is not reckoned as favor, but what is due" In other words, i cease doing work and trust in the work of another. That's exactly who the way it is with christ. I can't do work to merit my salvation or get to heaven. So i'm trusting in the workof an holyway.
