The Socialist Movement's Relationship to Slavery

The conversation about race within the broad area of the socialist movement is very much linked to slavery. Slavery is absolutely pivotal for this generation of people that tend to be German immigrants, they come from a background of radicalism. These people are also anti-racist, so they are not just against slavery in itself, they are anti-racist as well. They tend to see things through the prism of class, but they are unified by having a common target - which you see missing in the post-ballom period.
