Most plastic is made from crude oil that is taken from deep underground and refined into its different parts. Plastic is made by taking naphtha out of crude oil and making long chains of carbon molecules link together. Once the liquid becomes thick and sticky, it can be molded into any shape. It might be cheap to buy, but it is really expensive for our planet. Some plastic can be recycled in Australia and turned into new plastic products. Lots of plastic still ends up landfill.
