The History of Islamic Architecture in Britain
The first mosque in Britain appeared as a folly in Q Gardens in 1763. After World War II with the advent of decolonization, large numbers of Muslims settled in Britain from certain parts of South Asia. The post-war mosques were being self-made in an iterative and ad hoc fashion by migrant communities who were using them.
