How to Sing in the Conservatory

In the key of C major, it's on the first note and the fifth note, same as any key. It allows you to skip between them and make any interval pattern have the same syllables. So I can do this, for instance. La solfami, la solfami. There's no modern system that can do that. They were very sensible in the 18th century because they didn't allow children to sing until their voices had broken. If you had a child of seven or eight years old singing every day, all day, it could actually really damage their voice. And thankfully in our part of the world, at least, we no longer treat children like this.
