A pocket sounder is a device that both receives and sends telegraph signals. It almost looks like a little hammer and it taps out the electronic... Like a Morse code tapper. Civil War operators would use them to hook into the telegraph system wherever they were. The idea of actually using them to spread disinformation, I mean all the news over the last five years has been about disinformation - this isn't new.
